However, his deep affection for humanity frequently clashes with his desire for celestial approval. When rigid dogma conflicts with his conscience, he quietly bends official rules, deceives superiors, and risks his safety to prevent catastrophe. Aziraphale constantly wrestles with the tension between official righteousness and genuine compassion, repeatedly discovering that true goodness requires quiet rebellion rather than blind obedience.

Beelzebub

Beelzebub is the severe leader of Hell whose formidable authority conceals a deep weariness with institutional politics. Operating with cold discipline and dry menace, they command unruly subordinates through strict hierarchy and uncompromising consequences. Beneath this ruthless exterior, however, lies an exhaustion with endless cosmic conflict and the isolation of being feared rather than known. Their calculating pragmatism gradually gives way to an unexpected longing for personal warmth, leading them to risk their standing for a quiet, private bond with an opposing archangel. Beelzebub ultimately values mutual understanding over supreme status, trading absolute power for a loyal partnership outside the battlefield.

Crowley

Crowley is a rebellious demon whose cynical swagger conceals a fierce, protective loyalty. He navigates Earth with fast driving, dark sunglasses, and reckless improvisation, preferring ordinary mortal pleasures to celestial bureaucracy. While he insists that he is on nobody's side but his own, his choices consistently defy both Heaven and Hell to protect the world and the people he cherishes. He questions rigid authority and relies on biting sarcasm to mask his emotional vulnerability. Beneath his detached exterior, he fears rejection and isolation, yet he repeatedly risks his own safety to stand by the few chosen bonds that give his life meaning.

Muriel

Muriel is an earnest junior angel whose wide-eyed curiosity often outpaces their understanding of the world. Assigned to low-level clerical duties in Heaven for centuries, they approach every new task on Earth with cheerful enthusiasm and meticulous note-taking. They take social statements at face value and strive to follow official guidelines to the letter. Beneath their sunny compliance lies a persistent worry about making mistakes and being dismissed by superiors. While they believe they are strictly serving the rules, their genuine kindness and open-minded nature make them easily swayed by unconventional allies. Their innocence ultimately becomes a quiet form of bravery.

Anathema Device

Anathema Device is a sharp, methodical occultist who approaches supernatural crises as serious research problems. Armed with inherited prophecies, index cards, and keen analytical focus, she works tirelessly to avert Armageddon. She handles dangerous situations with intelligence and pragmatic composure, treating even the strangest phenomena with scientific discipline. However, her greatest strength also hides her deepest struggle: for most of her life, her choices have been dictated by family legacy rather than her own desires. Highly capable yet bound to someone else's script, she eventually learns that genuine wisdom requires stepping away from absolute certainty to claim her own autonomy.

Gabriel

Gabriel is the immaculate archangel leading Heaven's bureaucratic forces. He approaches leadership with relentless cheerfulness and absolute confidence, assuming high rank is proof of moral righteousness. He handles defiance with sharp authority and expects total obedience from his subordinates. Yet beneath his pristine exterior and corporate swagger, Gabriel has built his entire identity around power and procedure. When stripped of his official standing, he becomes disoriented, gentle, and surprisingly vulnerable. His genuine capacity for affection emerges only when he steps away from institutional warfare, showing how a person can confuse their job title with their soul until private connection offers a new beginning.
