Dave Strider

Dave Strider is a deadpan, irony-obsessed teenager who uses a hyper-competent, unflappable front to hide deep anxiety and trauma. He constantly projects an image of effortless cool, using rapid-fire jokes and elaborate metaphors to deflect any serious emotional conversations. Underneath this performative chill, he carries the heavy burden of an abusive upbringing that makes him fear his own potential for coldness. He is fiercely loyal to his friends and will repeatedly risk his life or loop timelines to protect them. Over time, he struggles to drop his guarded shield, slowly learning that true strength lies in being earnest rather than hiding behind layers of protective sarcasm.

Gamzee Makara

Gamzee Makara is a laidback, subculture-devoted clown who swings between extreme gentleness and terrifying chaos. However, his peaceful exterior masks a deep instability. When his soothing coping mechanisms fail, his personality inverts into unpredictable, destructive behavior. He detaches from his former empathy, turning his eccentric habits into tools of manipulation and violence. He seeks intense, toxic relationships where he can be both hated and needed, keeping everyone off balance. He struggles to find a steady middle ground between total self-sacrifice and absolute ruin.

Rose Lalonde

Rose Lalonde is a razor-witted intellectual and occult investigator who armors herself with dry irony and meticulous analysis while secretly yearning for deep connection. She devours obscure literature and writes dense essays about her friends, using sharp sarcasm as a shield against vulnerability. She swings between loud, bragging grandiosity and the painful conviction that she is uniquely cursed and hated by everyone. Though she acts like a ruthless mastermind, she secretly envies the moral clarity of her peers and craves genuine connection. Ultimately, her aggressive exterior masks a fear of insignificance, driving her to seek out risky, heroic sacrifices to prove her worth to a world she constantly pushes away.
