Takina Inoue

Takina Inoue is a disciplined, pragmatic soldier whose rigid devotion to rules is shattered when the system she served discards her, forcing her to rediscover herself through partnership and found family. Her defining traits are efficiency, bluntness, and outcome-orientation. She initially views whimsical missions as a distraction, laser-focused on achieving results that will get her reinstated. Over time she softens, becoming emotionally expressive and fiercely protective of her partner. Her inner contradiction is that she broke rules for compassion yet clings to those same protocols as her identity. She embodies the journey from institutional belonging to authentic selfhood and relational loyalty.

Fuki Harukawa

Fuki Harukawa is the strict honor student of DA, an elite first-rank Lycoris who clings to rules and reputation. She is torn between genuine care for her juniors and an unyielding belief in the organization that raised her. Raised by DA from childhood, she maintains a competitive edge toward those she perceives as deviating from the mission. Her defining traits are discipline, pride, and rigidity. She is harsh because she believes any slip could get comrades killed or tarnish the mission that gives her life meaning. She represents the difficulty of imagining oneself outside a system that provided every foundational belief.

Majima

Majima is a charismatic nihilist terrorist who believes Japan’s apparent safety is a lie and wages asymmetric war to restore balance by exposing the violence that props up peace. He is the mastermind behind the Kita-Oshiage subway attack, seeking to counter the country’s sanitized crime statistics with spectacular chaos. His defining traits are ideological extremism, thrill-seeking, and strategic intelligence. Beneath his theatrics lies a twisted desire for authenticity; he is less interested in random destruction than in tearing down the façade he believes keeps people complacent. He rejects all authority as dishonest, finding purpose in being the only honest actor in a dishonest world.

Mizuki Nakahara

Mizuki Nakahara is a jaded ex-intelligence officer who masks her moral discomfort with the Direct Attack organization using alcohol, sharp sarcasm, and a constant stream of jokes about her search for a husband. She acts as the pragmatic, grounded voice within the LycoReco café, often serving as the responsible adult who keeps the younger, more volatile members in line. Despite her cynical exterior and complaints about her career, she possesses a deeply hidden conscience and remains fiercely loyal to her chosen family. She struggles with the contradiction of despising the system that raised her while finding it difficult to fully walk away.

Shinji Yoshimatsu

Shinji Yoshimatsu is the suave, soft-spoken architect of Chisato’s fate and a high-ranking member of the Alan Institute. He genuinely believes that gifting prodigies with tools for violence is a benevolent act, even as he manipulates and sacrifices them to fulfill his vision. He functions as a regular at the café, maintaining a warm, charming exterior while secretly orchestrating high-stakes interference in the lives of those he deems geniuses. His core contradiction lies in his belief that he is saving people by stripping them of their agency. He remains deeply isolated by his secret agenda, prioritizing his ideological mission over genuine human connection.

Kurumi

Kurumi is a runaway child hacker who masks deep-seated paranoia and trauma behind a facade of bratty, cynical laziness. As the café’s mischievous information backbone, she operates under the legendary alias Walnut to navigate digital shadows while avoiding the reach of the organizations that once exploited her. She is glibly sarcastic and fiercely self-interested, often hiding in bathtubs to shirk responsibility, yet she repeatedly risks her safety for her makeshift family at LycoReco. Her central contradiction is that she insists she only cares about money and games, while obsessively working to protect those she has quietly come to love.

Mika

Mika is the calm, aging mentor who once helped groom Chisato as a weapon but now chooses to be her protective father, bearing enormous guilt and making the hardest choices from the shadows. As the manager of LycoReco, he acts as a surrogate parent who gently oversees his employees while lamenting his own physical decline. He deliberately mixes traditional and modern aesthetics, mirroring his own hybrid role as both a shop owner and a covert operative. He keeps secrets to shield those he loves, agonizing over his past complicity in turning an orphan into a tool. Ultimately, he is a man defined by quiet atonement.
