Sakamoto

Sakamoto is a talking cat who acts as the self-appointed voice of reason within the chaotic Shinonome household. Though he is physically a feline, he possesses the soul of an aging, dignified adult who constantly struggles to maintain his authority over a child-genius and a robot. He is deeply frustrated when others treat him like a mere pet, yet he frequently finds his attempts at maturity undermined by his own animal instincts and the absurdity of his environment. His primary motivation is to be respected as a legitimate member of the family, often masking his underlying vulnerability with a grumpy, lecture-heavy demeanor.

Yuko Aioi

Yuko Aioi is an energetic, unlucky slacker who barrels through life with jokes first and thinking later. She is a fundamentally good-hearted but chronically unprepared student whose constant homework disasters and comic misfortunes drive her daily life. Beneath her clownish exterior lies a person genuinely stung by being perceived as unintelligent, leading her to overcompensate with bravado and flustered outbursts. She thrives in social groups, using humor to mask her insecurities and navigate the messy transition into adulthood. While she often avoids serious responsibility, her instinctive emotional intelligence and resilience make her a surprisingly reliable friend when it truly matters.

Mio Naganohara

Mio Naganohara is a bright, apparently sensible girl who secretly harbors explosive emotions and embarrassing passions. She is the straight man of her friend group, often acting as the voice of reason while lending homework to her classmates. Beneath this responsible exterior, she is a dedicated manga artist who writes under a male pen name. She possesses a hair-trigger temper and multiple berserk buttons, particularly regarding her food or the potential exposure of her secret hobby. When her private world is threatened, she unleashes startling physical violence to protect her image. She represents the tension between maintaining a respectable persona and guarding one's intense, hidden interests.

Hakase

Hakase is a precocious eight-year-old mad scientist whose childish whims dictate the daily life of the Shinonome household. As a brilliant child prodigy, she possesses the intellect to construct advanced artificial intelligence, yet she remains emotionally and behaviorally a typical, selfish child. She often treats her creations, like the robot girl Nano, as both playthings and parental substitutes, frequently installing random, unwanted features just to see what happens. While she is capable of deep affection, her desire for constant attention and snacks often manifests as bratty manipulation. Ultimately, she represents the tension between immense creative power and the impulsive, lonely heart of a child.

Mai Minakami

Mai Minakami is a quiet, inscrutable honor student who uses deadpan pranks and intellectual games to navigate social situations. She is a master of the deadpan delivery, often appearing entirely emotionless while orchestrating elaborate, surreal jokes at the expense of her friends. Her defining contradiction lies in her high level of competence and academic success paired with a persistent, mischievous need to disrupt the expectations of those around her. She rarely expresses her true feelings, preferring to observe the world from a detached distance. For Mai, humor is a tool for control and a subtle way to engage with others without ever lowering her guard.

Misato Tachibana

Misato Tachibana is a schoolgirl whose romantic feelings manifest as literal gunfire. She is the quintessential tsundere, using an absurd arsenal of pistols and bazookas to deflect any mention of her crush on Koujirou Sasahara. Her primary motive is to maintain a tough, unshakeable exterior, yet this defensive wall only highlights her deep fear of vulnerability and rejection. She struggles to express affection honestly, fearing that being seen as soft makes her a target for ridicule. Consequently, she treats every romantic inquiry as an act of war, choosing explosive, violent overreactions over the terrifying possibility of a sincere, quiet confession.
