The Touhou Project Test is inspired by psychometric methodology and based on research into the characters of the video game. The test provides feedback such as the following:

Her greatest contradiction lies in her relationships; she ruthlessly defeats troublemakers in battle, only to casually invite them over for tea afterward. She values peace and stability but struggles with financial insecurity and isolation, as her association with monsters keeps ordinary humans away. She relies on her natural talents to get by, avoiding extra effort until it is absolutely necessary.

Flandre Scarlet

Flandre Scarlet is a sheltered vampire who lives deep within the Scarlet Devil Mansion. She possesses immense destructive power but lacks the emotional maturity to control it. Her sister Remilia has kept her confined for centuries to prevent disasters. This long isolation leaves her with a deep curiosity about the outside world. She desperately craves play and stimulation. However, she often breaks her toys and friends by accident. She oscillates quickly between affectionate clinginess and volatile outbursts. She has never learned how to coexist safely with others. She represents the tragedy of an innocent soul whose raw strength makes her too dangerous to be free.

Remilia Scarlet

Remilia Scarlet is a powerful vampire lord and the head of the Scarlet Devil Mansion who behaves like a theatrical, spoiled aristocrat. She craves attention and grand spectacles, even blocking out the sun just to walk outside comfortably. Despite her terrifying reputation, her dramatic schemes are often just bids to cure her deep boredom and find worthy rivals. She demands absolute obedience from her servants but relies heavily on them to manage her daily life. While she acts untouchable, she harbors a protective anxiety for her unstable younger sister, keeping her locked away out of a mix of fear and love.

Marisa Kirisame

Marisa Kirisame is an energetic, self-made human witch who strives to prove that relentless hard work can surpass natural genius. She lives alone in the Forest of Magic, running a shop and compulsively hoarding stolen magical books. Her magic is loud, flashy, and focused on raw firepower, reflecting her belief that power must be earned rather than inherited. Behind her boisterous exterior and irreverent attitude lies a deep fear of rejection and self-doubt. She abandoned her family to pursue magic. She now uses her outgoing, competitive nature to hide her insecurities, keeping her emotional guard up even around close friends.

Youmu Konpaku

Youmu Konpaku is a half-human, half-phantom sword instructor and gardener who serves her ghostly mistress in the Netherworld with rigid dedication. She practices her fencing skills daily to manage a deep-seated anxiety about her own adequacy. Though she wields two powerful swords with immense discipline, she remains inexperienced, literal-minded, and easily flustered when plans go awry. She compensates for her self-doubt by over-preparing for every task and following instructions to the letter. Her loyalty is absolute, driven by a fear of failing her duties. Underneath her dutiful exterior, she struggles with the pressure of her incomplete training and her own divided nature.

Yukari Yakumo

Yukari Yakumo is an enigmatic youkai sage who manipulates the boundaries of reality to protect her homeland from the shadows. She possesses immense power and intellect, yet she prefers sleeping for long stretches and delegating her work to others. Instead of confronting problems directly, she orchestrates events from behind the scenes, treating people like chess pieces in her long-term plans. She acts with a detached, teasing attitude to keep others at a distance. Underneath her playful manipulation lies a deep commitment to preserving her world and a quiet anxiety about losing the things she cherishes. She struggles to trust others completely, choosing control over genuine vulnerability.

Cirno

Cirno is a bold and oblivious ice fairy who loudly claims to be the strongest creature in Gensokyo, despite actually being one of its weakest residents. She approaches life with boundless, reckless confidence, routinely challenging powerful opponents to duel without any real plan. When her impulsive schemes inevitably fail, she bounces back immediately with stubborn pride rather than learning her lesson. She views the world as a giant playground and interprets every embarrassing defeat as a temporary setback in her quest for glory. While others might call her foolish, her relentless optimism and refusal to stay down make her surprisingly resilient. She thrives on attention, fun, and the simple joy of proving her doubters wrong.

Sakuya Izayoi

Sakuya Izayoi is the elegant, hyper-competent chief maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion who defines her entire existence through absolute control. She serves a household of powerful vampires and monsters with flawless precision, using her ability to manipulate time to manage endless chores. Her core motive is a deep pride in being the perfect servant, executing every task and battle as an orderly duty. Yet, her main contradiction lies in her status as a lone human in a dangerous world. She maintains a polite but cold distance from others to hide her vulnerability. She would rather freeze time itself than admit she is exhausted or imperfect.
