This character acts as a loud, boastful protector to hide deep-seated loneliness and the trauma of losing family. While Dororo puts on a cynical, streetwise front to navigate danger, a deeply idealistic heart lies underneath. Dororo fiercely defends the vulnerable, rejects oppressive authority, and uses clever distractions rather than raw violence to escape tight spots. By acting as a loyal companion and moral anchor to others, Dororo channels personal pain into a stubborn determination to build a kinder, more just future for everyone.

Biwamaru

Biwamaru is a wandering blind monk who travels through war-torn lands as a quiet observer of human nature. He possesses the rare ability to see the true color of people's souls, recognizing corruption and purity where others are easily deceived. While he presents himself as a wry, detached drifter who avoids unnecessary trouble, he deeply cares about the travelers he meets. He offers practical advice and uses humor to cope with the grim realities of the world. He only intervenes in conflicts when there is no other choice, yet he remains a deadly swordsman when forced to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Mio

Mio is a gentle, resolute survivor who quietly shoulders unbearable compromises to protect those she loves. She cares for a group of war orphans in an abandoned temple, working under the cover of night to earn food for them. Though she views herself as impure due to the nature of her work, her actions stem from pure, self-sacrificing devotion. She avoids direct conflict, using placation and quiet endurance to navigate a brutal world. She comforts troubled souls like Hyakkimaru with her gentle singing, offering peace in a violent era. Her life is defined by deep warmth, silent shame, and an unwavering commitment to her family.

Daigo Kagemitsu

Daigo Kagemitsu is a ruthless feudal lord who sacrifices his own newborn son to demons to secure prosperity for his famine-stricken land. He operates as a cold, utilitarian leader, firmly believing that any personal cruelty is justified if it preserves the collective stability of his domain. His core motive is to maintain power and protect his people, yet his main contradiction lies in destroying his own family to achieve peace. He views relationships as mere tools and suppresses his guilt by doubling down on his harsh choices. Ultimately, his pragmatic focus on results hollows him out, leaving him isolated when his bargain collapses.

Hyakkimaru

Hyakkimaru is a stoic, scarred ronin who fights relentlessly to reclaim his stolen body parts from demons. Born as a sacrifice for his father's domain, he survives through prosthetic limbs and a supernatural sense for souls. His core motive is to assert his right to exist, yet his journey is complicated by a deep contradiction: while he hunts with feral, silent brutality, he secretly yearns for warmth and human connection. Tahomaru
