The Future Diary Test is inspired by psychometric methodology and based on research into the characters of the anime series. The test provides feedback such as the following:

Yuno Gasai

Yuno Gasai is an outwardly sweet, feminine classmate who conceals an obsessive, hyper-violent fixation on Yukiteru. Her diary forecasts everything about him, mirroring how her entire identity orbits his existence and safety. On the surface she is affectionate and shy, but in conflict she is wholly confrontational, using weapons and deception to annihilate any threat. Her trauma underpins a stark contradiction: she is a brilliant, fearless tactician, yet emotionally remains a neglected child structuring her morality around not being abandoned again. She represents the human need for attachment twisted by trauma, embodying the line where deep devotion becomes self-destruction.

Keigo Kurusu

Keigo Kurusu is a disciplined police detective who serves as the moral anchor for those around him. Driven by a profound sense of duty, he initially enters the survival game to uphold the law and prevent unnecessary bloodshed. His character is defined by a sharp, strategic mind and a calm demeanor that commands respect in high-pressure situations. However, his core contradiction emerges when his deep love for his terminally ill son forces him to compromise his own principles. He eventually abandons his rigid code, resorting to betrayal and violence to secure a future for his family, illustrating the tragic erosion of integrity under extreme emotional duress.

Yukiteru Amano

Yukiteru Amano is a timid, observant loner who would rather watch life than participate in it. His Future Diary records everything happening around him but ignores his own actions, capturing his bystander mentality and fear of making choices. He begins the survival game conflict-avoidant, cowering and outsourcing decisions to others while seeking safety in alliances. Authority reassures him, and he often leans on stronger personalities to define his reality. Under extreme pressure, he becomes shockingly ruthless to ensure his survival, yet he never fully loses his underlying kindness. He oscillates between avoidance and panicked confrontation, ultimately driven by a stubborn, desperate capacity for love.

Murmur

Murmur is a mischievous trickster who serves as the assistant to the God of Time and Space. She masks her role as a manipulative mastermind behind a playful, chibi exterior and an obsession with manga. Her primary motivation is the avoidance of boredom, leading her to treat the life-or-death survival game as a grand, entertaining spectacle. While she appears to be a mere servant, she actively tampers with timelines and influences players to ensure the game remains dramatic. Her main contradiction lies in her childish demeanor, which she uses to disown responsibility for the immense, chaotic harm she causes while pulling strings from the shadows.

Deus Ex Machina

Deus Ex Machina is the crumbling God of Time and Space who treats the mortal world as a high-stakes game board. As the architect of the Survival Game, he orchestrates the battle for his successor while facing his own inevitable expiration. He is whimsical and detached, often provoking conflict simply to see how humans react to impossible pressure. While he claims to uphold rules and fairness, he frequently manipulates the truth to keep the game interesting. His core contradiction is a blend of cosmic apathy and surprising, selective compassion. He represents the cold indifference of systems that sacrifice individuals to maintain a larger, fragile balance.

Aru Akise

Aru Akise is the cool-headed teen detective who lives to solve mysteries and uncover the truth. He is a brilliant observer who quickly deduces the mechanics of the Future Diaries, positioning himself as a vital ally to Yukiteru and a dangerous rival to Yuno. Aru respects rules as functional tools rather than absolute laws, often bending them or conspiring with others when his investigation demands it. His hidden contradiction is that the supposedly detached investigator is designed to love Yukiteru, forcing him to balance rational insight with deep emotional loyalty. He embodies the tension between reason and feeling, intellectualizing his life while quietly risking everything.

Minene Uryu

Minene Uryu is a hardened, sarcastic terrorist who survives by trusting no one but herself. As the Ninth diary owner, her Escape Diary literally tells her how to avoid danger, encapsulating a life philosophy built on contingency and never being cornered again. Raised amid war and religious extremism, she loathes organized authority and vows to erase the very idea of a deity. In conflict, she is both confrontational and tactical, using chaos as cover to execute escape plans. Her inner contradiction is that the self-proclaimed loner is haunted by memories of her younger self, symbolizing a buried desire to be rescued.
