The Legend of Vox Machina Test is inspired by psychometric methodology and based on research into the characters of the animated series. The test provides feedback such as the following:

Pike

Pike Trickfoot is a gnome cleric of the Everlight who balances a tiny stature with immense spiritual ferocity. As the party's healer and conscience, she serves as the moral anchor for Vox Machina, often bringing her friends back from the brink of death. Her core contradiction lies in the tension between her devout, nurturing faith and her own reckless, brawling nature. While she strives to embody the grace of her goddess, she frequently grapples with guilt and self-doubt regarding her enjoyment of violence and vice. Ultimately, she is a fierce protector who learns that true righteousness includes embracing one's own messy, human complexities.

Vax'ildan

Vax'ildan is a brooding, impulsive half-elf rogue turned reluctant holy champion whose instinct is always to throw himself between danger and the people he loves. He serves as the party’s designated point man, a risk-taker who masks his deep-seated depression with sardonic wit and combat efficiency. His defining contradiction is self-sacrifice as both a virtue and a pathology, measuring his worth by the pain he can shoulder for others. Driven by loyalty and guilt, he often defies divine authority while ultimately submitting to duty to save his found family. He represents those who over-identify as protectors, struggling to accept their own vulnerability.

Scanlan

Scanlan Shorthalt is a gnome bard, raunchy hedonist, and larger-than-life performer whose constant sex jokes and self-promotion hide abandonment trauma, fear of irrelevance, and a deep capacity for sacrificial heroism. Raised by a single mother, he spends years touring with a troupe, leaving a trail of complications behind him. He joins Vox Machina for gold and thrills, quickly branding himself the party’s chronicler and star. His contradiction is that of a self-centered clown versus an abandoned child craving love. He copes with fear through humor and bravado, but when those break down, deep insecurity surfaces. He ultimately chooses to face his responsibilities as a father.

Grog

Grog Strongjaw is a goliath barbarian whose simple-minded nature and love for brawling mask a deeply loyal soul shaped by exile and abuse. Raised in the brutal Herd of Storms, he eventually rejects his clan’s cruel philosophy of might makes right to protect the friends he considers his true family. He is a contradiction of raw, feral violence in combat and a sweet, playful innocence in his daily interactions. While he often defaults to physical solutions, his journey involves confronting past cowardice and the heavy shame of his mistakes. He seeks validation through his strength, yet his greatest courage lies in his unwavering devotion to those he loves.

Keyleth

Keyleth is a painfully earnest, socially awkward half-elf druid on a coming-of-age quest to prove herself worthy to lead her people, even as she doubts she was ever meant for that role. On the surface she is anxious and easily overwhelmed, but in battle she is one of the strongest members of Vox Machina, wielding elemental magic and wild-shaping with devastating effect. Her contradiction is raw power versus crippling self-doubt. She questions every decision and is devastated by collateral damage, yet when pushed to the brink she becomes fiercely resolute. She is a flawed leader learning that confidence is a skill.

Vex'ahlia

Vex’ahlia is a sharp-tongued, hyper-competent ranger and party face whose hustle, greed, and cynicism disguise deep insecurity and a hunger for belonging. As the twin who tracks dragons and audits the party’s finances, she uses financial stability as a shield against the powerlessness she felt in childhood. Her emotional core is defined by a persistent sense of unworthiness, often exacerbated by her father’s cold rejection. While she appears aloof and fault-finding to outsiders, she is intensely loyal to those she trusts. She navigates conflict with tactical precision, preferring to cut deals or shoot from the shadows rather than rely on others.

Percy

Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III is a refined, traumatized gunslinger inventor whose quest for revenge against the Briarwoods nearly consumes him and his friends. Born into a noble family, he watches his kin slaughtered and his home usurped, escaping with only his life and a dark design for a pepperbox pistol. On the surface, he is polite, snarky, and intellectual, bringing tactical planning to a chaotic party. Beneath that calm, he is obsessive and dangerously compartmentalized. He struggles to reconcile his brilliance with the violent impulses of his past, constantly fighting to prove that he is more than his vengeance.
