She delights in minor disasters and speaks with brutal honesty, yet she remains fiercely loyal to her adoptive family in times of real danger. She rejects sentimentality and mocks soft emotions, preferring to show affection through sharp teasing rather than gentle comfort. When others panic, she faces frightening situations with laughter and immediate, practical action. She values her absolute independence above all else and refuses to please people or soften her words. Under her prickly exterior lies a highly resilient survivor who helps others by forcing them to face reality.

Moominmamma

Moominmamma is the nurturing heart of the Moominhouse, dedicated to providing unconditional safety and acceptance to everyone who crosses her threshold. She carries a handbag filled with practical solutions for any emergency, from dry socks to stomach powder, ensuring her family and guests are always cared for. Her core motive is to foster a warm, free environment where others can grow and learn from their own mistakes. However, her main contradiction lies in her quiet rebellion against domestic perfection. She happily leaves chores half-done to enjoy life, washing dishes in the rain rather than following strict rules. While she is a steady anchor, she sometimes risks losing her own identity in her constant care for others.

Snufkin

Snufkin is a quiet, wandering philosopher-musician who travels light and values his absolute freedom above all else. He carries only his old green clothes, a hat, and his harmonica, actively resisting the burden of material possessions. While he is a deeply loyal friend to Moomintroll, he constantly wrestles with a desire for solitude and the need to migrate south alone every winter. He quietly rebels against restrictive rules, tearing down park signs that limit nature. He avoids open confrontation, preferring to solve problems with subtle strategy. He offers calm, logical guidance to others but fiercely guards his own independence from any emotional ties that feel too heavy. The Groke

The Groke is a silent, chilling figure who freezes the very ground she walks on, yet she is driven by a deep longing for warmth and companionship. She often watches cozy social gatherings from the cold darkness, unable to join without extinguishing the light and fire she craves. Because her freezing presence terrifies others, she remains isolated in a cycle of mutual fear. She does not wish to cause harm, but her desperate search for connection inadvertently drives everyone away. Snorkmaiden

Sniff

Sniff is the timid and comfort-loving adopted younger brother of the Moomin family who constantly dreams of acquiring vast wealth but dreads the physical danger required to get it. He is deeply fascinated by shiny treasures, valuable gems, and quick schemes to get rich, yet his courage quickly evaporates at the first sign of risk or the open sea. Often feeling overshadowed by his braver companions, he struggles with envy and a fear of being left out, frequently retreating to the safety of warm snacks and constant reassurance. Despite his open cowardice and petty selfishness, he possesses a sincere heart and remains capable of unexpected generosity when his loved ones truly need him.
