The Mouthwashing Test is inspired by psychometric methodology and based on research into the characters of the video game series. The test provides feedback such as the following:

Daisuke

Daisuke is an energetic intern whose bright optimism and easygoing humor bring rare warmth to the crew of the Tulpar. He wants nothing more than to prove his worth, fit in with the older crew members, and earn the elusive respect of his cynical mentor, Swansea. In moments of crisis, he defaults to friendliness, eager cooperation, and jokes to defuse tension. However, his deep desire for approval makes him easily swayed by confident authority figures. Because he assumes good faith in those around him, his earnest drive to help leaves him vulnerable to being manipulated and pushed into danger.

Jimmy

Jimmy is the Tulpar's ambitious co-pilot who seizes command during a crisis, driven by a deep need for recognition and control. He quickly steps forward when leadership falters, believing he alone has the resolve to manage desperate situations. To protect his self-image, he frames his actions as noble necessities and views himself as the hero holding everything together. However, his drive for authority is tangled with defensiveness. When plans unravel, he tends to blame bad circumstances rather than admit his own mistakes. He often confuses taking charge with taking true responsibility, masking fear behind a relentless need to direct the outcome.

Swansea

Swansea is the Tulpar's veteran mechanic, a blunt pragmatist who relies on hard-won competence and technical knowledge to navigate disaster. He guards himself behind heavy cynicism and dark sarcasm, keeping others at a distance to conceal his inner vulnerability. Disillusioned by years of unrewarding labor and struggling with relapses under pressure, he has little patience for false optimism or comforting illusions. Yet beneath his abrasive exterior lies a fierce protective instinct. Swansea demonstrates loyalty through direct action rather than polite words, quietly watching over younger crew members and taking on painful, unforgiving duties to spare those he cares about from prolonged suffering.

Curly

Curly is the well-liked captain of the Tulpar who strives to keep his crew safe, steady, and united. He values peace and relies on a calm presence to defuse tension during difficult situations. Instead of taking harsh disciplinary action, he prefers to mediate disputes and give troubled friends the benefit of the doubt. However, his strong desire to preserve harmony often turns into dangerous passivity. When serious lines are crossed, he offers compromises and buffers rather than confronting wrongdoing directly. His genuine decency makes him trusted, but his hesitation to take decisive moral stands leaves vulnerable people without the firm protection they need.

Anya

Anya is the Tulpar's overburdened nurse who strives to preserve her autonomy and protect others in a collapsing environment. Gentle and outwardly appeasing, she uses polite words and quiet compliance to manage volatile crewmates and defuse tension before it escalates. Beneath her soft-spoken exterior lies practical endurance. Despite feeling unprepared and isolated by the people meant to support her, she methodically attends to medical duties, manages dwindling supplies, and makes quiet, calculated choices to protect herself. Her central contradiction is that while fear often forces her to minimize her presence, she continuously seeks control over her own decisions, refusing to let desperation strip away her agency.
