The IDRlabs Potter Patronus Match Test (IDR-PPMT©) is the property of IDRlabs International. The IDR-PPMT utilizes the concept of Patronus’ from the Harry Potter franchise, but is not associated with J.K. Rowling, Pottermore, Wizarding World, or the Harry Potter franchise. It is not the equivalent of other “Pottermore” or “Wizarding World” quizzes. HARRY POTTER is a trademark of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. The present test is in no way endorsed by or associated with Warner Bros., Pottermore, Wizarding World, or other related entities. No infringement is intended by the current test.

This Potter Patronus Match Test has been made with the help of professional analysts who have experience with personality typology and psychological assessment. While the concept of Harry Potter spells such as the Patronus Charm are fictitious, this quiz does use real psychometric items and analysis to determine the user’s affinity to 14 possible Patronus matches. The methodology of the Potter Patronus Match Test is based on the Five Factor Model, or trait theory, of personality testing, using six personality traits unique to the present test (loyalty, innocence, knowledge, liveliness, wildness, and cunning).

Tests related to the Harry Potter franchise, whether they are professional, used in academic research, or free online quizzes such as the present test, are simply initial indicators as to some aspect of your personality. In the case of the current test, your results will give you a clue as to your personality match with one of 14 possible Patronus guardians (dog, cat, hare, lion, mongoose, phoenix, wolf, bear, eagle, otter, fox, deer, raven, and owl). Typically, in regard to personality assessments, no quiz is capable of matching your personality with total accuracy or reliability, and no test can replace familiarizing yourself with in-depth personality theories and models. For more information regarding Patronus’ specifically, consult official Harry Potter franchise materials.

In the Harry Potter universe, the Patronus Charm is used to ward off Dementors by producing an animal guardian for the witch or wizard who casts it. These guardians are person-specific and will take on different appearances accordingly. Some are more common pets or animals, while others will produce a magical creature. Harry Potter himself produces a stag Patronus, while Hermione Granger’s is an otter and Ron Weasley’s is a Jack Russell Terrier. Not much is known about how exactly the form of one’s Patronus is determined, except that it is an animal that you share some affinity with; this test will use an established, research-based personality assessment to discover your best Patronus match. A Patronus is conjured by focusing your mind on your happiest memory, so bring that memory to mind, and get ready to meet your personalized protector.
