Bob Velseb is the slasher villain archetype taken to a brutal extreme, serving as a cannibalistic serial killer who brings genuine, unvarnished horror into the lives of others. He is defined by his relentless persistence, physical resilience, and a chilling lack of remorse that makes him a terrifying force of nature. While he often appears as an unstoppable predator, his existence highlights how ordinary human cruelty can be amplified by dark, supernatural influences. He represents the universal fear of being hunted by someone who sees others only as prey. In conflict, he is pure, aggressive confrontation, driven by bloodlust and a complete disregard for the safety of those around him.

John

John is the steady, caring-cop archetype who serves as one of the few consistently protective adults in the town. Partnered with Jack, he investigates the cult and tracks dangerous threats like Bob Velseb with a focus on duty and evidence. He possesses deep roots in the community, showing long-term emotional investment in the safety of its inhabitants. John provides heartfelt reassurance to those in distress, acting as a guardian of their emotional world. While he believes in the system, he remains frustrated by a town where supernatural evil consistently outpaces institutional control. He approaches conflict with logic, courage, and a quiet, persistent sense of responsibility.

Moloch

Moloch is the demonic trickster-antagonist who embodies the dangerous consequences of dabbling in forces beyond one's control. As a recurring entity from biblical lore, he thrives by manipulating others and feeding off their energy. He is defined by his cunning, persistence, and deep-seated vindictiveness toward those who trap him. His primary contradiction lies in his origin; to the children who summon him, he appears as a fun, spooky companion, while to the world, he is a destructive force of corruption. He handles conflict through possession and deceit, ignoring human rules to satisfy his thirst for power and revenge against his former captors.

Lila

Lila is a stressed but deeply devoted single mother who finds herself constantly caught between her professional responsibilities and the chaotic, dangerous adventures of her son. She balances her career as an architect with the exhausting task of keeping Skid safe in a town plagued by serial killers and supernatural threats. Her defining traits are competence, vigilance, and a persistent, underlying anxiety that stems from her own hidden grief. While she sometimes struggles to manage the unpredictable nature of her child’s life, she remains a protective force. She is a relatable figure of modern parenthood, constantly trying to maintain stability while facing overwhelming, uncontrollable circumstances.

Pump

Pump is the excitable best-friend archetype, a devoted co-adventurer whose identity is deeply entwined with Skid and the spirit of Spooky Month. He joyously celebrates the holiday at any given moment, leaping head-first into misadventures involving killers, demons, and bullies. While he is enthusiastic and naive, he is also framed as someone who craves warmth and inclusion, often looking to adults like Lila for a sense of family. His defining contradiction is that he idolizes spooky things while being a frequent victim of them, using his obsession as a form of escapism to process fear. He handles conflict by clinging tightly to his friends.

Father Gregor

Father Gregor is the stern but caring priest and exorcist who acts as a moral anchor in a chaotic world. He is driven by a profound sense of duty to protect others from supernatural threats, often using strict rituals and blunt advice to manage the dangers surrounding him. Frank

His defining traits are duplicity, opportunism, and selective warmth. He craves connection and approval even as he victimizes families for money. He represents the charming bad influence and the blurry line between a fun adult and a dangerous one. He handles conflict pragmatically, skirts authority, and downplays fear with humor.
