Mayer, a researcher in organizational trust, and Dr. Bella DePaulo, a psychologist studying deception, have explored traits related to trust and honesty. This test adapts their findings to assess trustworthiness.

The IDRlabs Trustworthy Person Test (IDR-TPT) was developed by IDRlabs. The IDR-TPT is based on the work of Dr. Roger C. Mayer, Ph.D., and Dr. Bella DePaulo, Ph.D., who researched traits related to trust, reliability, and deception. The IDRlabs Trustworthy Person Test was informed by Dr. Mayer’s work on trust as published in Mayer, R. C., Davis, J. H., & Schoorman, F. D. (1995). An integrative model of organizational trust. Academy of Management Review, 20(3), 709-734, and Dr. DePaulo’s research on deception as published in DePaulo, B. M., Lindsay, J. J., Malone, B. E., Muhlenbruck, L., Charlton, K., & Cooper, H. (2003). Cues to deception. Psychological Bulletin, 129(1), 74-118, adapted here to assess trustworthiness.

The work of Dr. Mayer and Dr. DePaulo explored key factors that define trustworthy individuals. It has been adapted here to inform the diagnostic criteria of this Trustworthy Person Test by emphasizing traits associated with trust. The presentու test is intended for educational purposes only.
