Ki-ja is an earnest, duty-bound noble who combines porcelain refinement with overwhelming brute force. As the White Dragon, he inherited a massive, clawed right arm endowed with incredible strength, having grown up in the hidden Hakuryuu village being revered and overprotected as the sacred descendant of the dragon deity. His defining traits are sincerity, politeness, naivety, and almost fanatical devotion to the legend. He has spent his life waiting for the Crimson Dragon King’s call and agrees to follow Yona instantly. Comically, he has very poor stamina and often overexerts himself, hitting enemies far harder than intended while struggling to navigate the messy outside world.

Son Hak

Son Hak is a fiercely loyal bodyguard and war-hardened realist who hides deep vulnerability behind sarcasm and strength. As the former general of the Wind Tribe and the legendary Thunder Beast, he is one of the kingdom’s most formidable fighters, known for his relentless spear skill and battlefield prowess. After a palace coup forces his charge into exile, he abandons his status and tribe to protect her, often taking on the most dangerous burdens so she can grow without being crushed. He is deeply self-sacrificing, frequently suppressing his own feelings and needs to ensure the safety and success of those he serves.

Jae-ha

Jae-ha is a flamboyant freedom-seeker who uses charm and teasing to hide old wounds and a fierce moral code. As the Green Dragon, his right leg holds dragon power that allows impossible leaps, but his village locked him away as a child, fueling his intense protective instinct for his own autonomy. Outwardly, he is the seductive older man who enjoys flirting and jokes, yet he is scrupulously respectful of consent and never exploits the vulnerable. He initially refuses to join Yona’s quest because he equates destiny with imprisonment, but he is eventually won over by her genuine courage and integrity.

Yun

Yun is a sharp-tongued genius who balances domestic competence with a deep-seated idealism. Orphaned in a poor village, he survived by his wits before becoming the caretaker for the exiled priest Ik-su. He is the group’s strategist, medic, and cook, often saving his companions through planning rather than brute force. Although he initially harbors resentment toward royalty and nobility, he softens as he witnesses Yona’s growth and commitment to her people. Beneath his blunt, tsundere exterior lies a deeply caring heart that works tirelessly to support his found family. He proves that ordinary human skill and compassion are just as vital as divine power.

Su-won

Su-won is a charismatic, calculating reformer who embodies the moral gray zone between justice and vengeance. Once Yona’s gentle, goofy cousin and Hak’s closest friend, he abruptly assassinates King Il and stages a coup to seize the throne. He justifies this betrayal by viewing himself as the only leader capable of saving Kouka from his predecessor’s pacifist neglect. Beneath his affable, approachable exterior, he is a man of intense strategic brilliance and emotional compartmentalization. He suppresses his own grief and lingering affection for his former companions to prioritize national stability. Su-won remains a complex figure who shoulders the burden of ruthless decisions for the greater good.

Shin-ah

Shin-ah is a gentle, socially withdrawn survivor who carries terrifying power and deep loneliness. As the current Blue Dragon, he possesses golden eyes that can paralyze enemies, a gift his village feared as a curse. Orphaned early and raised in isolation, he learned to view himself as a monster whose gaze brings only death. His defining traits are quiet kindness, extreme loyalty, and self-effacing restraint. He prefers physical combat over his dragon powers because he hates frightening others. Yona becomes his first real friend, validating his humanity and inviting him into a found family. He gradually risks visibility, choosing to protect his comrades rather than hide.

Ik-su

Ik-su is a clumsy, tender mystic whose faith and softness quietly redirect history. As the exiled High Priest of Kouka, he lives in isolation in a remote valley, praying for the people’s happiness and surviving thanks to his caretaker Yun. He is absent-minded, easily injured, and prone to tears, yet he bears the heavy burden of prophecy, including the vision that sends Yona to seek the Four Dragons. His defining traits are compassion, humility, and a near-reckless honesty. Beneath his comedic clumsiness lies deep loneliness and a quiet courage. He endures persecution yet intercedes for the kingdom through prayer rather than bitterness.
