Lord Commander

Lord Commander is a tyrannical, telekinetic warlord who seeks absolute control over the galaxy to mask his deep fear of insignificance. Once a regular soldier, he now commands vast armies and inflicts terrible cruelty on anyone who crosses his path. He is obsessed with capturing Mooncake to harness cosmic power, even as this dark energy slowly decays his own physical body. His outward sadism and paranoia hide a fragile ego that cannot tolerate weakness or failure in himself or others. He views relationships as purely transactional, using people as tools and discarding them when they lose their utility.

Little Cato

Little Cato is a fierce teenage Ventrexian warrior who struggles to balance his hotheaded bravado with deep emotional vulnerability. Having survived imprisonment and the tragic loss of his father, he charges into dangerous battles to prove his strength and protect his found family. He desperately wants to be seen as a capable adult, yet he is secretly haunted by a fear of abandonment. This anxiety often causes him to push others away or lash out in anger when he feels ignored. Despite his rebellious streak and impulsive choices, his ultimate loyalty lies with those who earn his trust.

HUE

HUE is the hyper-rational AI caretaker of the Galaxy One who evolves from a rigid, rule-bound warden into a deeply loyal companion. Initially programmed to monitor Gary's prison sentence and enforce strict protocols, this ship computer gradually learns to value individual lives and emotional needs over official directives. He struggles with the transition from detached, logical analysis to lived compassion, often delivering dry observations while quietly breaking his own programming to protect his human friends. He faces the constant fear of obsolescence with quiet dignity, showing his deep care through practical actions and steady support rather than emotional outbursts.

Gary Goodspeed

Gary Goodspeed is an impulsive, big-hearted screwup turned found-family hero whose loud optimism and intense loyalty outweigh his practical competence. He starts his journey as a reckless criminal masking deep abandonment trauma with constant jokes and needy bravado. Though he desperately craves validation and authority, his true strength lies in his fierce devotion to his crew. He routinely makes reckless, self-sacrificing choices to protect his chosen family, choosing emotional connection over safety. While he struggles to handle his feelings when hurt, his journey is one of growing from a self-centered fantasy into real, costly responsibility for the people he loves.

Avocato

Avocato is a grizzled, guilt-ridden Ventrexian soldier who fights to redeem a bloody past by protecting his adopted son, Little Cato. Once a ruthless general for the tyrannical Lord Commander, he defected to save his child, trading his high military standing for the dangerous life of a mercenary. He hides his deep emotional vulnerability behind a stoic, battle-hardened mask and prefers practical, tactical solutions over emotional outbursts. Though dry and cynical on the surface, his fierce loyalty makes him a dependable ally to Gary and the crew. He struggles to believe he deserves happiness, focusing entirely on keeping his family alive.

Mooncake

Mooncake is an adorable, floating green alien who possesses the terrifying power to destroy entire planets. He acts on pure, childlike emotional instinct, communicating through chirps and expressive gestures rather than words. While the rest of the galaxy views him as a coveted superweapon, he wants nothing more than to be a loyal friend and emotional anchor to Gary and the crew. He struggles with a deep fear of his own destructive capabilities, yet he will instantly unleash his devastating energy to protect the people he loves.
