InuYasha Test

The IDRLabs InuYasha Test is inspired by psychometric methodology and based on research into the characters of the anime series. The test provides feedback such as the following:

Inuyasha

Inuyasha is a hot-headed, fiercely loyal half-demon who masks deep loneliness behind a facade of bravado. As a hanyō rejected by both humans and yōkai, he grew up feeling like an outsider, leading him to be prickly, proud, and constantly overcompensating in battle. He handles conflict through raw instinct and direct confrontation, often charging into danger without a plan. While his temper and childish reactions frequently exhaust his friends, these outbursts reveal his profound fear of abandonment. Beneath his defensive exterior lies a deeply protective spirit, as he repeatedly risks his life for his inner circle, showing his love through deeds rather than words.

Kagome Higurashi

Kagome Higurashi is a compassionate, outspoken modern schoolgirl who becomes the moral and emotional center of a brutal, ancient era. She is defined by her unfailing willingness to help others, treating friends and strangers alike with warmth and respect. While she possesses a strong internal moral compass, she is also stubborn and quick to speak her mind when her values are challenged. Her honesty makes her feelings easy to read, helping those around her soften their defenses. Though she occasionally struggles with teenage impulsiveness and jealousy, she consistently acts as a grounded emotional anchor, finding creative solutions to impossible problems.

Shippo

Shippo is a small fox-demon child whose mischief and fearfulness coexist with surprising insight and loyalty. Despite his small body, he possesses a strong spirit and a pure heart that knows no corruption, caring deeply for his comrades and placing their well-being first. He is often afraid and hides behind others when threatened, but simply being with the group makes him happy. He is sharp and extremely perceptive, able to analyze situations and nudge stubborn friends or resolve misunderstandings. He acts as an emotional barometer for the group, using humor and commentary instead of force while slowly learning to find his own courage.

Sango

Sango is a disciplined, duty-driven demon slayer whose stoic strength conceals deep grief and a desperate need to protect what remains of her family. Once the pride of her exterminator village, she possesses a strong sense of responsibility, a brave heart, and a no-nonsense attitude. She takes great pride in her role, relying on advanced fighting skills and never letting an enemy escape. Sango confronts every foe aggressively and without mercy, yet she remains deeply compassionate toward her friends. She struggles with internalizing her pain, often pushing ahead until her emotions erupt as anger or tears when her loved ones are threatened.

Naraku

Naraku is a calculating, sadistic spider hanyō who represents envy weaponized against human connection. Born from the fusion of a mortally injured bandit with numerous demons, he serves as the primary antagonist who orchestrates the suffering of the entire cast. He obsessively seeks the Shikon Jewel to achieve absolute dominance, viewing himself as superior to all other beings. While he appears fearless and detached, his elaborate schemes and reliance on expendable incarnations reveal a deep-seated terror of vulnerability. He takes sadistic delight in destroying the bonds of others to soothe his own loveless existence, proving that his greatest weapon is his intimate understanding of human weakness.

Sesshomaru

Sesshomaru is a proud, seemingly emotionless full demon lord who slowly discovers compassion through an unexpected bond with a human child. Born of a powerful yōkai bloodline, he possesses immense power and exhibits a calm, calculating personality, remaining composed and confident in his strength. His aloofness is framed as the dignity of a rare being; he shows few emotions beyond annoyance and initially rejects alliances, considering cooperation a sign of weakness. While he prefers to act alone, he possesses a certain sense of honor. His journey reveals a capacity for protection that eventually outweighs his cold indifference, marking him as a leader who values strength.

Miroku

Miroku is an easygoing, sharp-witted Buddhist monk who masks deep existential dread and the looming threat of his own death with constant flirtation and humor. Cursed with the Kazaana in his hand, which will eventually consume him if Naraku is not defeated, he lives daily with the reality of a shortened life. He is brave and self-sacrificing, often risking his own safety to protect his companions. While he acts as the group’s tactician, using intelligence and spiritual insight to navigate conflict, he also embraces a hedonistic streak. He balances his heavy responsibilities with a playful, charming exterior, hiding his true vulnerabilities behind a smile.

Kikyo

Kikyo is a duty-bound priestess whose posthumous bitterness complicates her once-serene compassion. Fifty years before the main story, she guards the Shikon Jewel as an incorruptible shrine maiden, showing sympathy even to those she must destroy. After a fatal deception, she dies to keep the jewel from the living world, but her resurrection brings a capacity for hatred she never allowed herself before. She is composed and tactical, using spiritual power and traps rather than hot-blooded confrontation. She remains distant, interacting as a spectral presence while struggling with the heavy burden of her past, her lingering love, and her desire for final atonement.
