As the eldest of Logan’s children, Kendall always assumed he would take over Waystar Royco as CEO and finally step out of his father’s shadow. But as Logan doggedly hangs on to control of the company, Kendall’s ambition leads him to launch a series of Oedipal plots to dethrone his father and instate himself at the head of the company. A complex mix of narcissistic egotism and redeemable courageousness, Kendall’s arc from daddy’s-boy tech-bro to a moralistic and worthy challenger to Logan’s crown indicates his growth. Despite his selfish motives and many cringe-worthy moments, his ambitions to modernize business operations and distance himself from the far-right views of his father are admirable.
