Short Big Five Test

The Big Five is considered to be the gold standard in science. It is the most widely used personality test in scientific research and has sometimes been called "the only truly scientific personality test." Drawing on the work of psychologists Rammstedt and John, this test will measure your Big Five traits in one minute or less, using only ten questions. Though the test is extremely short, scientific analysis has found that this test retains about 70% of its validity.

What are your Big Five scores? For each of the following items, indicate your level of agreement below.

The IDR-SB5 was compiled on the basis of peer-reviewed research, using metrics and data available to researchers.

The Big Five, or Five Factor Model (FFM), is the gold standard in social science, and is at the forefront of scientific personality testing. There is strong scientific evidence that the Big Five construct is solid, valid, and reliable. The Five Factor Model is a research-based model of personality, which is widely used as a theoretical basis within a wide range of disciplines. The Five Factor Model is generally considered to be more accurate and in-depth than alternative personality tests such as MBTI, Belbin, or DISC profiles, but at first glance may appear somewhat more technical. The Five Factor Model is based on statistical inference; the five top level traits of openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism are comprised of a total of 30 subscale personality traits, which are divided into these five main dimensions.

Although all are designed to measure the Big Five traits, the IDR-SB5 should not be confused with the IPIP-NEO or the NEO PI-R™, as authored by Paul T. Costa, Jr. and Robert R. McCrae. However, all are personality tests (or inventories) for measuring traits within the Big Five or Five Factor Model (FFM) system of personality. The NEO PI-R™ is the property of Psychological Assessment Resources. The specific expression of the IDR-SB5 is the property of IDR Labs International.
